Last week, on my way home from work, I saw the following picture:

A beautiful young dog basked in the warm rays of the autumn sun. Despite all the efforts of the sun, it was cool enough. This is not surprising, the winter has begun on the calendar. Therefore, to keep warm even more, the dog chose a large pile of leaves, which the janitor raked in order to load into the car and take out.

Today we have a real winter:

Where does the poor dog get warm now? He also needs to find something else to eat.

I called this post "The Problem of Homeless Animals," but it's really a problem of soulless people. Why are animals forced to look for food and warmth? I mean unadapted animals that we humans have long been taught to be wild.

There are many ways for animals to get outside. Some people are just bored with pets, some did not expect that they will increase so much trouble, some did not know about their allergy to fur, some love their pet, but it brings many offspring every year...

Are there any animal faults listed? No. It all depends on us.

At the same time, there are people who are trying to rectify the situation. Some feed stray animals, some take them home. But there are those who approach this case more strategically.

I am sure that this problem has been solved in developed countries. In my country, such problems are dealt with by active people. One group of such activists organized a homeless shelter in my city and called it the "House of Sirko". Sirko is a common name for dogs in my country in the past.

This shelter began with a piece of abandoned territory, mud and an old fence. But with the help of caring people, dogs and cats eventually received aviaries, a place to walk and professional medical care.

All this was done by a handful of active people. Then volunteers began to help. When shelter assistance became fashionable, local authorities joined. Even at my daughter's school there was an action to collect food for the homeless animal shelter.

Now the shelter is doing a great job for the city. But, despite this, homeless animals can continue to be encountered on every street.

On the Facebook page, I saw a video in which the shelter caretaker was met by an active cheerful dog. It turns out that this dog was hit by a car in a nearby town (30 km from my city), and it lay there on the road all day (!!! people, what about you?). Eventually, the dog was brought to the shelter, he underwent surgery, and he recovered and is waiting for the owner. From this story, I realized that people are very indifferent, and I also realized that the shelter accepts animals not only from my city.

Anyone can come to the shelter, choose a pet, take it home and take care of it. And people do come, but of course there are many more animals than people who want to take them.

By the way, most of the stray animals that can be found in the city have a special mark on their ears, which means that they visited the shelter and received vaccinations and medical care. But they are released due to lack of space.

I think, after reading this post, you also share my opinion that the activists who organized the shelter are doing extremely hard and useful work, which requires significant funding. But the fact is that these efforts and costs could have been avoided. We are all unique people. We create problems ourselves and then solve them heroically. Can't we organize our lives and not throw animals out?

Remember, an animal is as much a living thing as you are, and treat it the way you would like to be treated.
