This latest report by the BitShares spokesperson, Annemieke Dirkes of Blockchain Projects BV, covered various topics.

- Efforts are ongoing for an [on- and off-ramp for the BTS token via Lykke](https://steemit.com/bitshares/@bitshares.fdn/lykke-will-enable-on-off-ramping-bts-smartcoins-are-considered)

- A description of the process that is required by exchanges (Bittrex and Poloniex) when they are contacted by the spokesperson. The first step of the process requires discussions with their legal counsel. Their legal counsel usually object to text that appears on the bitshares.org site. Their legal counsel "... also usually do not get the fact that other assets are on the BitShares Blockchain without being BTS. You all might think that sort of view is ridiculous, it is what it is." New legal-friendly content is being prepared.

##### AML/KYC on blockchain platforms

For those who are concerned about AML and KYC, there was an interesting discussion about the cost of performing validation on various blockchains (both decentralized and centralized).  The topic was raised by [Ari Paul, CIO of BlockTower Capital, when he posted](https://twitter.com/AriDavidPaul/status/969477547363831808)

"Ripple, EOS, Bitshares, and any other project that uses some form of validator nodes - I suspect transactions on these are actually extraordinarily expensive. AML/KYC will probably be required in various legal jurisdictions which put cost per transaction far above BTC."

In the BitShares Community Telegram group, @kimchi-king brought up several good points about how AML/KYC can be handled within BitShares **today** and how easy and inexpensive it is.

"For companies that want to integrate with Bitshares and adhere to KYC/AML regulations they can use the whitelist feature which is dirt cheap [0.09233 BTS per whitelisted account] to use. There's no additional cost added to the validators."

And once a user is validated, that validation can be re-applied to other assets for almost nothing.to other assets for almost nothing.

Stan Larimer was recently interviewed by Chris Andlers on the Future Tech Podcast.  This was a a follow-up to [Stan's presentation at the Dallas Bitcoin Super Conference](https://steemit.com/bitshares/@stan/stan-s-closing-presentation-at-the-dallas-bitcoin-superconference).

Stan has some very interesting comments about some research that he has commissioned about possible integration with EOSIO blockchains. He alludes to four possible architectures including three which we have previously discussed.  He discusses a fourth one involving a "middle blockchain" between the BitShares blockchain and the main EOSIO blockchain.  This middle blockchain could serve two purposes: to connect BitShares with the main EOSIO blockchain, and to add certain features that are required by large institutional investors:

- identity management
- AML/KYC
- recognize where a particular user is (IP address) so that blockchain can enforce local rules
- higher quality nodes managed by institutions that work in parallel to the grassroots nodes

Stan clearly states that this is a "vision" to debate and that he is not dictating.  He is simply wanting to explore ideas.

* PoloniEX has emptied their BTS cold wallet (poloniexcoldstorage) into their hot wallet (poloniexwallet). This may be related to the recent news that Circle has acquired PoloniEX.
