Romans 8:26 (AMP)
>“In the same way the Spirit [comes to us and] helps us in our weakness. We do not know what prayer to offer or how to offer it as we should, but the Spirit Himself [knows our need and at the right time] intercedes on our behalf with sighs and groanings too deep for words.”
Most believers don’t realize it, but praying in the spirit, or praying in other tongues, is a spiritual exercise that strengthen your inner man. Just like barbells build up your arms, praying in tongue will build up your spirit. If you will do it faithfully, it will help to keep that flesh body of yours in line. I understand that not many people can speak but in as much as you desire it, I believe that God can strengthen you to.
I am not in for those who want to sound cool and then go and learn how to speak it. This is the gift of God which money cannot buy and it cannot be taught. The apostles of old were never taught but the Holy Spirit came upon them that even the gentiles that were there heard them speak in their own language which these apostles were ever exposed to before now. That's the power of the Spirit of God. It quickens us to do things beyond human strength and comprehension.
Many times, your natural mind doesn’t have the first idea how to say a prayer that will strengthen you against temptations or bring the answer you need. Even the Bible says that we don't know how to pray as we should but the Spirit of God helps us and one of the ways is to speak in tongues.
Your mind is not informed like your spirit is. Your spirit is in contact with God because we are also spiritual beings even though we live in the flesh. That’s why as Romans 8:26-27 says, the Holy spirit comes to our aid because we do not know how to pray as we ought to.
Praying in tongues enables you to pray the perfect will of GOD for your life. You can't pray amiss with speaking in the Spirit. It allows you to step out of the realm of the spirit so that no matter how weak or ignorant you maybe in the natural, you can pray exactly what you need.
Praying in tongue is the tool GOD has given us to tap in to the mind of the spirit. When we pray in tongues, we activate our spirit to understand as the Holy spirit enlightens us and we begin to see the manifestation of the things we didn't even open our natural mouth to pray about.
