What it'll take to raise New Orleans-area levees: $3.2 billion, 50-year plan, Corps says

*When the post-Katrina levee system was built, at a cost of $14.6 billion, Congress did not include authorization of federal-state cost sharing for elevating the levees to keep up with subsidence and sea level rise.*

Interesting article about what it will take to raise the levees around New Orleans. Including what was already spent after Katrina, they're talking about spending close to $20 billion, that's a lot of money. I wonder what the taxpayers in the other part of the country thinks about his money going to a levee around New Orleans. Doesn't really seem fair to me.....
