Hello Friends!,
Greetings to you. How are you? I hope is cool by the grace of our Almighty God granted us with life.
Today my diary game is a change of environs appearing at a village called **"Nyanmania"**
In the morning, I prepared myself for school. Next work Monday is 7th December 2020. The day set aside for all Ghanaians to to the electoral poll to cast votes. So we are conducting internal exams for the students to break on Friday, while those registered valid Voters can go to their various homes to cast their votes. Since this is Nationwide assignment everyone has to be involved.
As academic teacher, I checked that all the papers for the subjects to be written today is intact and no mistakes. We arranged the students deciding them into two(2) class for them to be saved from social contacting. We then distributed the papers for them. The invigilators for the two(2) classes today is Yahaya and Angelina, supervising English & RME.
Owusu, who had been assigned by Electoral Commission of Ghana(EC) to be a Polling Officer (PO) at **"Nyanmenia"** on 7th December 2020 election is to visit the village today for some important arrangements like, tables & chairs for officials, the seating arrangement, the entrance & exit of the voters and so on. He had also been given some posters for paste on the walls of the village.
He beg me to escort him to the village since this is his first time going there. He thought when we are two it would be better that him going alone. I didn't hesitate to go with him, since he is my friend. We set the journey with his motorbike to the village. We had to pass to Atonsu, which is the town under which **"Nyanmenia"** is located. When we got to Atonsu, we had to ask the way to the village. One Guy at Atonsu was very kind to direct us. We branched left of the town. The road is very dusty, it was a bush road where timber cars have going there for logs, but now under serious construction, maybe due to the election year... I guessed...hahahaaa 😁.
At some point, our motorbike could not move due to dust retarding friction with the tyre. I had to get down from the motorbike, push Owusu before we could bypass the dust. But it was all over the road leading to the village.

We finally got to the village. We had spent almost 1 hour to this village. This is due to the dusty nature of the road. I believe if it's tarred, one can use 39 mins to ride motorbike from Atonsu to this village. Fortunately for us, we had some few people here around. Mostly, in such village, they wake up and go to farm early dawn. It was because of farming that these inhabitants came and settled here. So it's farming community. That is why all the settlement is scattered. We got of from the motorbike to see the elders here and narrate our mission for being to Nyanmenia.

######
we were given chairs to sit for our mission at Nyanmenia

After narrating our mission for been there, the first thing was to search for tables and chairs the EC Officials will sit on during to day of election. There are chairs and tables of their personal used. They are not office used tables, but Owusu and their people would manage, since bringing some with Okada from Atonsu would incur cost. We went to one neighbor in this village called Afred who promised that he has one table, he took us to see if we can use it.
One thing that I noticed and observed, their houses are built with Thatch, wattle and daub. The thatch is the straw of grasses used for the roof, whiles the wattle and daub are the soil or earth dug and mixed with water. The house is often tied with palm branches, strong sticks with ropes to make it stiff. It's then fixed with these wattle and daub. During dry seasons the room becomes cool since the thatch doesn't absorb any heat, it's then said to be bad conductor of heat (insulator). The only demerit might be that it triggers fire during this harmattan season where the environment is prone to fire outbreak. Thatch therefore becomes highly flammable, so little fire, the whole village can burn. A sad situation had been occurred in one of the villages of Sekyere Central where the whole thatched village got burnt.

We then pasted few electoral instruction posters on their walls of wattle houses. Surprisingly, I saw only one building having been plastered with original sand. We removed the papers on the stickers to get the sticky part to paste on walls.

One thing that I was thinking for these inhabitants is the good source of drinking water. But I was very happy to see that they have a source of bore hole made for them. I think is not 100% purely treated compared to tap. But once it's dug deep to the water table, it is somehow safe for drinking. At first when we sat for them to ask of our mission, they were coming give us water but we refused since we didn't know the kind of water. Later, I was very curious to ask where is their source of water. One Elder shown us. We even came with him to drink some of the water at this bore hole. Wow, it was very nice, though water is tasteless.

We gave the rest of posters to Afred to make starch and paste them on their walls. We then came back to school. Even though we suffered on the dusty road again. But we thank God that we arrived without any trouble. It was exactly 12:28 pm. The students were on their second paper, that's RME.
The student completed their papers when it was 1:50 pm. I came home safely with Owusu motorbike again.
I engaged in few things at home. I was so tired for the day work, travelling to **"Nyanmenia village."**
This is how I ended my day work. Thanks to all, lovely Steemians!
