Greetings my dear readers, this time I'll tell you a little about a great guard I had in the surgery service, it was my second guard.
Everything started quiet at 7:00 am, the previous group gave us only one patient who had a couple of pending laboratory tests.

Then the day went on quietly, few patients, the odd interconsultation, nothing great, but at about 4:00 pm 2 emergencies arrived.
The first was an 8-year-old girl with a diagnostic impression of acute appendicitis, something common, but the concern of this case was that the baby had 4 days of evolution with the symptoms, but because they were in a rural area they had not been able to Take her quickly to the hospital and we were afraid that the appendix had already been perforated.
In fact, it was like that, the cecal appendix was in a stage called gangrenous and was perforated :(, which made the surgery more complicated than we thought, however everything went well and was successful, and now they have given it high :).
In this surgery I participated as an observer and assistant of the instrumentalist nurse.
The second emergency that came to us was a 60-year-old patient with a complicated right inguinal hernia, and since the man had certain underlying diseases that worried us in the same way we had to put him in the operating room; in this surgery I did participate as a second assistant. In spite of everything, the surgery went very well and the patient was also discharged.

Our guard ended at 7:00 p.m. but that last surgery took a little longer than expected and I ended up leaving that guard around 9:00 p.m., but it was totally worth it.
Luckily there was no deceased in this guard, it is worth noting that I have not gotten used to this type of situation, I suppose that with time I will know how to cope with them correctly.
Over the years I've realized that I like surgery a lot, but not so much general, that is, I love traumatology and orthopedics, and even gynecology and obstetrics, but curiously I also love psychiatry (a rare mixture haha), therefore I am still in the process of knowing myself; At least I know what I do not like haha.
