Hi,

Today am going to share a true life story about myself that happened many years back say I was probably 12years then or so.

Am yet to share this story with anyone but only those closed to me then or who were present at the scene, probably know about this say my brother and cousin in which case, if not for him I probably won’t be writing this post today.

*That’s what they say happens to you when you just an inch away from been no more.*

I come from Nigeria, live in Delta sate and a small town called sapele, within this town there is a location called okurighwere which I lived for a long time before relocating to my present location.

It was your normal Saturday morning, sun was up high and everyone was engaged in their daily activity, kids playing around and what have you.
 
Decided to go to the river with my elder bro @admiralsp, just your normal swimming activity. Although I was yet to know or master how to swim.

I usually play at the shallow depth and master my hand stroke but today was a little bit different.

Now what you don’t know is,
 
My parent back then were against anything related to swimming, the mere mention of us going to the river was a serious crime and because of this, we usually sneak out, with a short towel, pomade and whatever would erase any evidence of us ever been to the river.

As usual we went out without their permission, bro and his friends were swimming from one pillar to another.

While I climbed the first pillar and jumped into the river, the shallow aspect of cause, was practicing my swimming skill as usual when all of a sudden I found myself been dragged by the wave down.
 
One would probably say, when faced with such scenario he would try and battle forcefully by using both hands and leg to pull yourself up, but that was not the case for me.

When down, everything around me was just so peaceful, a feeling I just can’t explain, felt like the world stopped and everything around it was calm, felt really good I must say, was unable to move, didn’t even realize what was going on


**I was actually drowning.**

When all of a sudden a hand reached me, pulled me up and dragged me to the shore, I was yet to fully understand what was going on, my stomach was probably filled with water lol, cause at that moment nobody wanted to lift me up or could lift me up.

A wheel barrow was brought to the river shore, as I couldn’t find my feet.
 
According to them, water was been pumped out from my mouth my hitting my stomach and I was unable to move from that spot even after that, the wheel barrow was used in conveying me home.

The next thing I knew, I was already back home and couldn’t remember what transpired before then.

The above story was told to so many kids back then who were present and I was always ashamed whenever I heard it, but nobody actually knew what it felt or what I felt when I was down there and even till today my parents are yet to hear this story as this is one of my secrets am yet to share with them.
