9 years ago my boyfriend quit his job at General Motors and decided to start a business.  He was sick of the daily grind and decided he was going to make a change and follow his passion.  
For nine years he has built this business teaching kite boarding lessons all over the world but mostly in North Carolina.  
The business is seasonal, which means he makes all of his annual income in just 4 short months.  He has had to budget through out the year and it is a major stressor and challenge.

When we met, I was (and still am) working as an RN and had an extremely flexible schedule.  Three years ago with only a high school education, he decided to go for it, and knock out all the coursework and work on getting into a collegiate nursing program. 
This May he graduated from Nursing School and recently passed his boards and is now an RN.  Tomorrow he will start his first job at a local hospital. 

And so, today we are celebrating his last day as fully self-employed by taking it easy and enjoying the day.  

Now he will be able to supplement his seasonal business with working as an RN in a hospital.  The career of nursing can be complimentary with being self employed or having another job because often times we only work 3 days a week.
