You know, I always found it very ironic that primitive Christianity, born as a sect within the Jewish community, in a couple of centuries went from being a persecuted religion to being the only official religion of the Empire and will dedicate itself to persecuting other religions trying his extermination ... Día 669 desde que se declaró la #Cuarentena en #Venezuela por la #pandemia de #Covid19, estamos en la primera semana laboral y es martes, en mi caso no hace mucha diferencia porque estoy trabajando desde casa, claro, cuando hay electricidad y señal de Internet como para trabajar en alguna cosa.<br><br>
Veo las efemérides de hoy y resalta que hoy, en el año 347, nace Teodosio I (Apodado El Grande) el último césar del Imperio Romano unificado. Fue un sujeto muy interesante y es de resaltar que se puede decir que además de ser el tercer y último Emperador nacido en lo que es la península ibérica actual, es él quien emite el Edicto de Tesalónica, por el cual se declaraba el cristianismo (en su versión ortodoxa) la única religión imperial legítima y quedaba prohibido el culto a los antiguos dioses romanos, además de negar otras corrientes cristianas que fueron catalogadas como herejías. Hoy en día se le vería como un intolerante religioso, un fanático, un pontífice autoritario y déspota, pero resulta que en durante siglos se le ha considerado de muy buena manera y el apodo que le dieron fue de Grande, en fin, que las acciones son evaluadas desde el punto de vista de las ventajas que le dan al grupo que está en el poder en la actualidad, así que su imposición del Cristianismo, barriendo con casi diez siglos de religiosidad romana anterior, la persecución que se desató contra los practicantes de los ritos tradicionales y la directa injerencia del gobierno imperial en la organización religiosa, selección de textos sagrados y (se sospecha) potencial manipulación de los registros para favorecer la forma de gobierno centralizado, piramidal, subordinado al imperio y bajo amenaza cierta de ser ejecutados en caso de rebeldía... bueno, todo esto que podría volvernos locos en el tiempo presente, fue bien visto durante casi mil años, más bien, se puede decir que aún hoy en día hay quienes le apoyarían abiertamente.<br><br>
Sabes, siempre encontré muy irónico que el cristianismo primitivo, nacido como una secta dentro de la comunidad judía, pasara en un par de siglos de ser una religión perseguida a ser la religión única oficial del Imperio y se dedicará a perseguir a las demás religiones procurando su exterminio... Pasó de la clandestinidad al gobierno, de ser víctima a ser victimario, en fin, que es algo que pasa muchas veces a lo largo de la historia, suele pasar que los grandes héroes pueden degenerar en tiranos o en crueles fanáticos, en fin, es lo que hay.<br><br>
A su muerte, separó el gobierno entre sus dos hijos y profundizó la ya existente división entre el Imperio romano oriental y occidental, pero no se le puede culpar de eso en su totalidad, ya era un proceso en marcha y era casi imposible que lo cambiara de rumbo. <br><br>
