Queridxs Knowmads y Steemians,  el Altes Rathaus es el edificio de la alcaldía antigua de la ciudad de Hannover. Fue construida en paralelo de la iglesia de Marktkirche, ambas estructuras representan el grupo arquitectónico gótico báltico más al sur.

El consejo de la ciudad de Hannover celebró sus reuniones desde 1303 en el salón de baile de la primera planta. En 1863 la administración municipal abandona el Alte Rathaus y se traslada al Wangenheimpalais hasta mudarse a la nueva alcaldía en 1913.
