I had just made my 50th orbit around our sun. To celebrate went out to shoot some pool at the town senior center since just qualified for membership. There I met up with steemit member @zero21mill. He is one hell of a pool player. Was all I could do to get a win every now and then. I'm not to bad either. Our conversation turned to bitcoin which was just about to go parabolic last Oct. I had recently purchased a small amount to do some gambling with. In hindsite would of done much better to hodl it instead of gamble.

Anyway conversation about bitcoin led to talking about other crypto currencies. I didn't know much about them. @zero21mill suggested I visit steemit. That there was lots of people writing about all types of tokens. More importantly that I could even earn some steem and SBDs just for using the platform. So when I got home that night I sent in a request to start an account. Took almost 2 weeks before I got approval. 

The last quarter of 2017 sure was exciting times in crypto land. It was a great time to just be getting started on Steemit. Everyday the stories of great change and new wealth were abundant. I drank the cool-aid and became a believer rather quickly. For me its kind of a fountain of youth. Do figure to keep drinking it in till its dried up which I hope is never.

On a side note John's (@zero21mill) computer died and he lost his Steemit password. Before that he was discouraged by the flag wars. He also did not cotton to the idea of kissing whale ass to get a decent reward. How they control rewarding of creativity. His thinking is that the site has to much of a ponzi scheme feel. He is a serious blogger that puts lots of time and effort into his creations. So long story short he no longer participates here.
