The tire that lives, breathes and flashes
#### Goodyear introduces Oxygene. A car tire designed to make the environment cleaner. For this, it contains living moss that grows in the sidewall, absorbs CO2 and releases oxygen. It should also exchange data with the environment via [Li-Fi](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Li-Fi).

[Oxygene](http://news.goodyear.eu/latest-news/goodyear-unveils-oxygene--a-concept-tire-designed-to-support-cleaner-and-more-convenient-urban-mobil/s/1258a5a0-827c-4e41-9c98-f42d688c63ae) is a concept tire from manufacturer Goodyear, that uses its profile to absorb moisture from the road. The moss in the sidewall also absorbs CO2 from the air and releases oxygen via photosynthesis. The tire will be shown at the Geneva International Motor Show 2018.

In a city as big as Paris with around 2.5 million vehicles, the use of such tires would mean that nearly 3,000 tons of oxygen would be produced and more than 4,000 tons of carbon dioxide would be absorbed each year.

Oxygene is not a pneumatic tire. It was 3D printed with rubber powder from recycled tires and consists of a shock-absorbing structure. It is also puncture proof.

Goodyear imagines that the tire also gains energy, powers the embedded electronics, and illuminates a strip of light in the sidewall. This should also be used exchanging information via Li-Fi. Li-Fi allows the tire to exchange data between vehicles and the infrastructure.
