The age of fourteen makes a boy rather a misfit in family.
 It is easy to excuse a child's fault but it is difficult to overlook even unavoidable defects in a boy of fourteen. The boy himself becomes highly sensitive. Hence he is either so unduly forward or so awkwardly shy that he feels ashamed of himself.
