Zafiro arriba, turquesa abajo, a unos pocos metros del plato marino; aguas adentro, se puede apreciar una holografía de brillante y profundo azul diamantino, tachonado con un rosario de burbujas oxigenadas de clorofila y plancton traslúcido.Desde ese maravilloso lugar,se puede divisar, rara  vez apreciada por el ojo humano, una suerte de actividad muy peculiar en el interior del océano.

Pero para poder divisarla, es necesario sumergir la mirada remota, esa que se abre,cuando se cierran los ojos físicos, se puede divisar a pocas leguas del fondo submarino, una fortaleza encofrada de selenio y pirita, se trata del camposanto donde sepultan a todas las criaturas marinas, una vez que han cumplido su ciclo vital en el océano.

Este enorme plato acuático, descansa sobre una sólida plataforma de cobalto bruto y azabache repujado, recubierto de carbón húmico finamente tallado y pulido, que le otorga a la base de la estructura una singular belleza.

Mientras observo la impresionante estructura, puedo divisar que se acerca una multitudinaria procesión de las más variadas especies marinas en actitud solemne, avanzan en un alineado desfile, parco, y circunspecto. 

La procesión la realizan con motivo de rendirle  honras fúnebres a sus fallecidos parientes, ahora comprendo la función de la bien ornamentada edificación.

Ingresan en un estricto orden marcial al interior del recinto, la alineada fila la encabezan dos enormes pulpos, quienes son los encargados de llevar los restos físicos de los fallecidos hasta su viaje final, en cada una de sus pegajosas ventosas, cargan minúsculos sarcófagos de cristal, cargados con un líquido viscoso verde fluorescente.Los octópodos balancean sus brazos en forma ondulante, emulando un baile serpentino de admirable belleza.

Este Húmedo ritual, en realidad no evoca tristeza ni pérdida, es un acto para celebrar la vida en todas sus directrices, pues el reino acuático conoce bien que la muerte es un proceso de transformación, en el que se cierra un ciclo de la vida, para continuar viviendo de otra manera, como materia transformada e iniciar un ciclo renovado de existencia como especie.

Por supuesto, como ocurre en cualquier sociedad, no faltan especies con una personalidad algo exaltada, de emociones un tanto dramáticas, y acá en Oceanía no es la excepción; por lo que presenciamos a un cortejo de peces bailarina, ataviadas de tul amarillo ascórbico, sollozando en lánguidos gemidos por la partida de un banco de peces de su parentela.

El resto del cortejo marcha jubiloso, como en una fiesta espiritual, con el decoro apropiado que debe guardar la compostura requerida del momento.

Una vez en el interior de la cápsula, los líderes del funeral, depositan los féretros traslúcidos en el panteón, que no es más que un laboratorio de regeneración celular, donde esas especies ya fallecidas revivirán en otra especie más evolucionada, a través de un proceso genético de avanzada tecnología, en la que podrán continuar con el ciclo de la vida que nunca se termina.

Celebradas las exequias de rigor, enmarcadas en cánticos y danzas autóctonas del continente, la procesión se retira en respetuoso silencio, a sus faenas ordinarias, propias de la existencia que experimentan ahora.
