My dad is a great believer in garlic. He used to eat a lot of garlic and encouraged us to do the same. He is 80 now and not eating a lot of anything but it seemed to have worked. According to him, garlic helps with your blood pressure and reduces cholesterol. It is also good for your heart. He would swallow individual cloves like pills.

I do not know whether this is true. If I had more than five minutes to write this, I could google it. Now I am just relaying his conviction and you should not consider this to be medical advice. Anything natural will have health benefits but cannot be seen to be a miracle cure. However, I want to share with you two benefits of eating garlic that I have tested myself as a teenager.

My dad used to say, 'Eat some garlic. It keeps mosquitos and girls away from you.'

This is true! When you eat a lot of garlic, you absolutely reek. Your breath stinks to high heaven! And your sweat and body odour joins the club. My dad was right. The girls stayed away...

Mosquitos too. I do not know whether your blood tastes bad or they too resent the smell. But I have tested this. If you eat enough garlic, mosquitos will avoid you. The rejection is sweet...

So you see, dragon breath can be beneficial. It kept me safe in high school and less likely to get malaria.
