How your diet can negatively impact your stress levels ☠️☠️🍬🍬

# Could certain types of foods make an impact on your stress level?
Believe it or not, the food you eat makes an impact on your stress levels. There are certain foods that relieve your stress level and decreases the amount of cortisol (stress hormone), while there are other foods that activate anxiety and increases the amount of cortisol in your system. According to www.goharvey.com, "stress contributes to obesity, insulin resistance, diabetes, and inflammatory disorders"(Picincu 2018). The nutrients you need to control your stress levels include a diet strong in **Magnesium**, **zinc**, **antioxidants**, and **vitamin B**. Certain types of foods that are detrimental to your stress levels include **fatty foods**, **foods with too much salt**, and **foods that are sweet.**

# How Coffee Can Be Correlated With Stress 
According to www.goharvey.com, Caffeine stimulates the nervous system and raises blood pressure, it affects sleep, making it harder for your brain to fight stress, this popular energy-booster stimulates cortisol release, which increases the stress response"(Picincu 2018). 

The GABA (Gamma-aminobutryic acid metabolism) is what controls your stress and mood. With too much caffeine in your system, it will take longer for your GABA to assist your body in recovering from stress. 

# Sugar and Stress
Blood sugar is highly correlated with stress and individuals should be aware of what the risks are if not managed properly. When blood sugar is increased rapidly and vice versa, this is linked to the adrenal glands releasing cortisol which then spikes your stress and anxiety. According to www.goharvey.com, "it appears that poor blood sugar control is often the culprit behind depression, mood swing, irritability, anger, and negative emotions"(Picincu 2018). 

# Crash Diet and Stress Levels 
The levels of cortisol can be negatively impacted by the way you eat. For instance, missing meals throughout the day can increase cortisol levels drastically. It's highly important to avoid skipping meals to avoid any detrimental increase in cortisol levels. As stated in the article, www.goharvey.com, "A high-carb breakfast will cause blood sugar spikes followed by crashes, the stress hormone cortisol levels are lowest around 3 AM"(Picincu 2018).

# Make A Change!
I hope after reading this blog, most of you will reflect on your current diet and the current stress levels you have. As we all know, stress is a feeling that no one wants to go through. Anything to relieve stress could be a huge benefit. Reduce your stress as much as possible from following dieting rules that can either decrease or fully eliminate your stress. One important fact, I want everyone to leave with this blog post is SUGAR. Sugar is your enemy when it comes to stress level and highly impacts your cortisol levels.
