Thanksgiving is the act of being grateful in all situation. We all know that this is not an easy act right? Mostly when things don't go the way we expected. It very easy to give thanks when things are good and work out in our favor than when the opposite occurs. "Why should I be grateful when things don't go the way I expect and  I'm hurting? Will giving thanks change the outcome of what has already happened to me?"
Someone may ask.

Look, giving thanks may not change the outcome of the present situation that you're in, but it will certainly change the state of your mind and make you look forward to the better days ahead. Thanksgiving is the opposite of complaining. Whenever something unpleasant happens to us and we start drowning ourselves in the sea of complaints, we are shutting down our spirits from seeing the possibility of us coming out of such a situation. Complaining weigh us down, stir sadness and sorrow in us and kill our drive to fight on.

Just observe the lives of people that complain a lot about everything around them and you will see what I am talking about. Complaining prevents us from appreciating even the few good things that we have going on for us and make us neglect them until we finally lose them completely. The cost of complaining is too high for anyone to pay that is why we are given a very easy and cost-free alternative "Thanksgiving".

Why give thanks in all situations? Thanksgiving stirs in our hearts a kind of joy and excitement that goes beyond our present state or situation. It gives us hope of a better tommorow and create in us the desire to fight on. It's a very strong antidote for sadness, sorrow and depression. A thankful heart is a lively heart. Every time we engage in an act of thanksgiving, we're exercising our hearts and spirit because Thanksgiving is a heart thing. And when our hearts gets excited, our spirit and our whole being become excited as well and hopeful.

Everything you give thanks for always gets better because the more you give thanks for such thing, the more the drive is stirred in you to improve on it. A thankful person is a very joyful and lively person. You enjoy life more when you develop the habit of always giving thanks. Things may not always go as you expected, but with thankfulness, you can configure your mind to see beyond the present happenings in your life and work towards a better tommorow.

Thanksgiving prepares your mind for the next stage of life. While complaining keeps you where you are and prevent you from seeing ahead. Don't allow anything hold you down by stealing your joy and peace of mind. It is the will of God that you enjoy this life but you can only enjoy this life if you can develop the habit of always giving thanks regardless of the situation. Don't allow anything steal your joy, peace and future. Give thanks and look forward to a better future.
