A couple of years ago I had to travel to a destination I have never assumed existing on the map. But since I am not afraid of the unknown I set off to an adventurous travel to the capital of Suriname, Paramaribo. Probably you are wondering why I had to go there? Well... you are right if you think there was a man involved but this is different story.๐ <h3>History and location</h3> As written in Encyclopรฆdia Britannica article: >Suriname, country located on the northern coast of South America. Suriname is one of the smallest countries in South America, yet its population is one of the most ethnically diverse in the region. Its economy is dependent on its extensive supply of natural resources, most notably bauxite, of which it is one of the top producers in the world. The southern four-fifths of the country is almost entirely covered with pristine tropical rainforest.  *Encyclopรฆdia Britannica, Inc.* >Formerly known as Dutch Guiana, Suriname was a plantation colony of the Netherlands that gained its independence on November 25, 1975. From 1980 to 1987 the country was governed by a succession of military regimes. A new civilian constitution was approved in 1987. Another military coup took place in 1990, but the country returned to civilian rule the following year. The capital, Paramaribo, lies 9 miles (15 km) from the Atlantic Ocean on the Suriname River. First flight was to Amsterdam and then another plane to Paramaribo. Overall it took me ะฐ day to get there. I landed with no thoughts about what I've read on the internet, because I wanted to form my own impression of the place. They say the country is not very developed but I say people there have more then us here in Europe. You get so fascinated by the beauty of the endless tropical forest where no mans food has been. And there is no high buildings, only houses up to 3 levels. People in Suriname may live modest but to me they seem to be very happy, because of not being suppressed by the modern way of life. *The front yard of the house where I lived for a month.*  *The Sunday market where people bring art and hand made goods for sale. The guy is definitely having a great marketing strategy by offering free drinks.* ๐  *Captured parrot for sale. Actually it is illegal to sell and buy them.*  *A giant frog we met one night when going back home.
