Day 46 - 100 days of value challenge!
This is me eight years ago meeting a pretty cool guy (Yosef from the group Madcon).
The story behind it is kind of beautiful, and taught me to be humble.
It was not so long after the 22. of July attack in Norway, and I was in Oslo with Emma to support her and partake at the memorial ceremony for the victims of the terror act.
We were going out one of the days and suddenly met Yosef outside of the hotel where we talked and took some pictures. When he found out why we were in Oslo he wanted to show us a good time, and took us all to a nearby pub. We had some beers and lots of laughs, and I really think that kind act of being with some youth that had just been through hell meant a lot to all of us. At least it did to me.
At one point I felt bad about them paying for all the beers so I sat next to him at the bar and said I would buy the next round. He insisted to pay and didn't let me, and said it meant a lot to him to be able to help us out.
He even said something in the lines of "bro, all of our shits stink, we're all human" when I asked how it was to now be famous after all their work.
So not only did they take the time of their evening to spend with us, young people from a political youth party, being genuinely interested in us and paying more than we were comfortable with. They also did it all while never acting superior to us or being high and mighty.
It was so incredibly awesome to realize in that moment that greatness comes from who you are, not what you've achieved. I only saw them as the musicians and celebrities first, but as nice human beings afterwards.
Thanks for that, Madcon. And the life pro tip of the day is to always be humble and a good person. No matter what you achieve in life, never assume you are better or more worthy than others, because you're not.
We're all special in our own ways, whether we're famous or not!
