THE 2010 WORLD CUP MEMORIES: South African 2010

Hey to everyone! 

I am so glad to bring to you some of the memories of the 2010 World Cup hosted in South Africa 🇿🇦 for the first time in Africa.

It was a great and a wonderful experience in my life seeing African country hosting World Cup without any challenges but rather grace upon grace. It was said by football analysts who classified it from statistics to be one of the greatest World Cup competition ever. 

Many African countries participated massively in the competition and makes a greater impact in the competition with so so surprising performance specifically Ghana 🇬🇭 Black Stars.

To start with, the World Cup commence on June and end up in July. The tournament started with South Africa v Mexico in which Siphiwe Tshabalala makes an open goal of the tournament which brought a hope in the African teams to shine in the tournament but although the match ended 1-1 draw.

Moreover, several games played in the group stages and many countries couldn’t make it out of the group stages but few did. Of which Ghana was the only African country that make it up to quarter final and was knocked down by Uruguay 🇺🇾 in a penalty shootouts. During this game, Ghana’s striker and top scorer in the tournament lost a decisive penalty in the last minute of the game by Suarez causing a hand ball penalty. 

The tournament came to finals between Spain 🇪🇸 and Netherlands 🇳🇱 which was so interesting in which they played a 90 minutes draw but in the extra-time Spanish midfielder Andrea Iniesta scored a decisive goal leading to the victory of the Spanish to be the winners of the 2010 World Cup tournament in South Africa.

 During this tournament many players deliver an outstanding performance of which Uruguayan Player Diego Forlan Winning the FIFA player of the tournament award 🥇(FIFA Golden Ball Award).

 The tournament came to an end and upto now South Africa 🇿🇦 is the only African country host the World Cup.
