There is a question that is not answered. Why in the world every three seconds a woman is killed by a husband, a boyfriend, often companions or former companions of years of life, children of fathers grew up together? How do you kill a girl for a fight ?. And there is a second question that confuses us. Because a woman (adult, free) on the first push, or even the first wild words, will not cast away forever the man who is threatening? The left hand side, prefers repetition "is not happening to me" and prepare the next day to tell their children (later to colleagues, friends) which is nothing, which has again slammed the door.
The truth is that something explodes and burns in the couple's love, turns it upside down, the profane to the extreme. It reveals that that relationship was not based on the wonder and care about each other; but on a constant, radical claim of assimilation and possession by men over women.
The "domestic violence" (that suffered by the men of the house, even the fathers or brothers) is the leading cause of death worldwide for women between 16 and 44 years: more than road accidents, most of the diseases. For this we must immediately get rid of the idea of ββthe monster, or the many monsters, we must escape to the immediate reaction that leads to say: I'm not, I'm normal. Violence against women, which in some cases goes so far as to murder defined for the first time "femicide" as a judgment of a few years ago, is not a collection of private facts: it is a tragedy that speaks to everyone. Especially, it concerns all men.
Now we know that there will be an appeal, a new Charter of rights, will not be a show, a documentary, an investigation or a book to stop the killing of women; even the best laws (albeit necessary) will suffice.
Yet speak, write, tell stories, be numerous in this Sunday in mid-December, moving together, women and men, to go in theaters or in the streets with a common thought anti-violence: this is an important step in understanding. And figure it helps us to get over that sense of strangeness upset that takes us in front of news events and maybe help the victims, at least some of them, to shake and save on time.
Fortunately on the theme of violence, seems to have generated a similar movement of associations, groups of scholars and artists, representatives of politics, the judiciary, the media. A movement of women and men that is transversal, heterogeneous enough to pull the rubber band to the maximum from left to right and yet very compact. It 'a modern lobby and abnormal because they do not have large funds, but is able to invest an extraordinary capital of time and energy. It is an important innovation.
