More often than not, we may not have much difficulty in making new friends, but the question is; how is the retainership of your old friends like? Let me tell us this; friends are not "spare tyres" that you keep just for emergency cases. Friendship is meant to be an integral part of our existence.

That is the reason you need to make good friends; but more than that, you should also try to value them too. Remember; the value you place on a thing determines how you preserve it. Preserve your friendship committedly.

Can I tell you something? No one is an island; we all need the input of people to make it through life. But in choosing friends, there are some factors you would look out for.

First of all; make friends with people enroute in the same course you're currently trailing. I'm not trying to say that some friends are bad, but you know; it is not wise to plant pineapple in a plantain plantation.

Also, you should bear this in mind; as long as "human being" is concerned, there isn't yet an absolutely perfect friend. So don't go looking for the perfect person to make friends with. We should learn to look beyond people's flaws and faults. Friendship is not about criticism, but about complementation. Just like I once said:
	
> Before you set out to look for the good friends, you must first meet the exact requirement of your requirements. Be the kind of friend you hope to see in others.

Okay, how do you sustain friendship? There are some words you need to get very handy with, and these include: "Thank you", "Please", "I am sorry"... You shouldn't be stingy with those. Try to do to your friends what you wouldn't mind if they do to you. And don't forget to be appreciative of them.
