Last year, ZTE Axon 30 Ultra camera with a Triple 64MP Camera setup. Even if Hardware specifications were on top, it was failed to produce the best outputs as it claimed. And now, it's time for ZTE Axon 40 Ultra and it comes with the same formula as last year..

So yeah, this time also, it comes with a Triple camera setup which consists of three 64MP Sensors.

It's just like last year. But there are so many little little things. It uses Sony IMX 787 customized sensor in Main and Ultrawide Cameras. It produces 1.12µm pixels and with 4:1 binning, the size of a pixel goes up to 2.24µm. So those sensors should perform well in low light conditions. There are a 3D ToF sensor and an Anti-Flicker sensor to help in capturing stable snaps.

The main camera uses 7P lenses. That's a plus point too. Since Ultrawide Sensor has AutoFocus, it can capture Macro Images too. It can capture close-ups up to 4cm. The other thing is The Selfie Camera. It's an Under Display Module. There was a 60MP Under Display sensor in ZTE Nubia 40 Pro Special edition. But here, it's only 16MP. But that's OK if it does its job.

The display is a gem too. It's a 6.8-inch AMOLED Display with a 120HZ refresh rate and 360Hz Touch Sampling rate. Also, it can get brighter upto 1500nits. Also it has this 1,440 Hz high frequency PWM dimming thing. It eases up the eye from display dimming.

Snapdragon reportedly said what Snapdragon 8Gen1 is capable of at the unveiling function. But most smartphone companies didn't want to use those capabilities at best. But ZTE did one thing with this smartphone. This smartphone can record 8K 30fps videos in all three sensors simultaneously. I mean that's a big process. Hundreds of megabytes of video rendering.. We don't know how well it can be.

These kinda processes take a chunk of battery life. That's why this smartphone has a 5000MAH battery and it supports 80W fast charging which is so enough to charge the smartphone fully for 30-40minutes. There's no wireless charging but that won't be a case I guess.

These processes need cooling. The Battery needs cooling. That's why it has a large 36,356 mm² vapor chamber. These processes need a good storage system too. So this smartphone has UFS 3.1 storage and the base storage option is 256GB and 8GB RAM. It could go up to 1TB and RAM could go up to 16GB.


So, that's it. A solid flagship with Minor but groundbreaking refreshes. There's a lack of water resistance and wireless charging but overall it's a solid device. Let's see how it's gonna perform in the real world.
