Essential oils may cause the growth of breast tissue in young boys

***Young boys who regularly use essential oils have a higher risk to suffer from pre-pubertal gynecomastia, the abnormal man breast size.***

The problem is that some vegetable oils contain chemicals capable of severely disrupting the function of our hormones. This is a good reminder that what is “natural” doesn’t necessarily mean “good”. Kenneth Korach and J. Tyler Ramsay from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) found that we can find substances that work similarly to estrogen in lavender and tea oils.

Eight of these substances were tested on human breast cancer cells. The tests show that all of them have anti-androgen effects and/or effects similar to estrogen. In other words, all of them are capable to increase the proliferation of breast cells in man. Similar chemicals can be found in at least 65 other readily available essential oil.
