It was written and discussed on Steemit for many years already. Here is my short take: It is not profitable to be a STEEM hodler. System punishes investors for locking their funds in Steem power. Those who hodl want to compensate it somehow and start to drain the reward pool, and those who create content get out of STEEM and sell it as fast as they get it. As a result nobody wants STEEM as an asset, the price goes down and everybody are upset.
