# History of Bangla

For this, the counting of Bangaad started from 963 AH. Earlier the month of Chakraborty or Shaka in the first month of Bengal was the month of Chaitra. But the month of Muharram in 963 AH was the Bengali month of Baishakh, that is why the Baishakh month is the first month of Bangad or Bangla calendar and 1st Baishakh is considered the New Year.

Some occasions were performed on the occasion of Bangla New Year from the time of Mughal to Pahela Baishak. The peasants paid the rent until the end of Chaitra month, and zamindars used to sweat the peasants in the first Baishakh and some joy was celebrated. Besides, all the traders and shopkeepers in Bengal used to do 'hahaha' in Pahela Baishakh. The first Boishakh was limited to these activities. It was originally set to administer the affairs of state, social, and economic rules.

On the day that Boishakh came in the first month of Bangla, the joy of Baishakh began to get even bigger than the joy of Nabanna. The moneylenders and businessmen started the 'Halkhata' program in Baisakhi.
