After presenting two movies at once in the year 2017 ( Alien: Covenant and All the Money in the World ), Ridley Scott is predicted to take a break before going back to search for a new project. But as if still in the condition of "on fire", the veteran filmmaker was already starting square off to make a movie, after he reportedly was negotiating with Disney to direct The Merlin Saga .

Although there has been no confirmation from Disney or Scott, sources Variety believes The Merlin Saga aan so the next movie from Scott. Adapted from the novel Merlin saga by TA Barron , this film itself carries manuscript made by Philippa Boyens . He is known as Peter Jackson's favorite script writer during masterminding the Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbit trilogy, and King Kong and The Lovely Bones .

Consisting of 12 series, Barcl's Merlin novel novel began rolling in 1996 with the opening book of The Lost Years of Merlin . It is likely that this is the first book Disney will want to take to the big screen. As for Barron guarantee the Disney-produced film will be faithful to his novel which highlights the story of Merlin the Witch.

The Merlin Saga film is about to unearth the origins of the Merlin wizard, who is in fact an important figure behind the success of Arthur Pendragon to become king. In addition to The Merlin Saga , Disney also has another live-action film project based on King Arthur's legend, The Sword in the Stone . FYI, this is the first time Merlin has his own solo movie, after so long only being a support character in King Arthur films. But on the screen, Merlin's story has actually been explored in depth through the NBC miniseries Merlin production, starring Jurassic Park actor Sam Neill .

For now, Disney still has not set the filming schedule or release date of The Merlin Saga .
