[Dracaena Fragrans](https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dracaena_fragrans) is a tropical shrub belonging to the Asparagaceae family, formerly included in the Ruscaceae. In gardening it is popularly known as **Tronco del Brasil, Palo de Brasil or Palo de Agua**.

It is a slow-growing shrub, the leaves, which can reach up to 1 m long by 10 cm wide, form rosettes of a bright green color, similar to the mint color.

When plants are grown in the ground, they can grow to a height of over 20 feet, but their growth is limited when potted.

Its flowers are white and very fragrant, hence the specific name ***fragrans***. They are highly appreciated by insects, and in the **Neotropics** it is visited by a few species of hummingbird such as the ***Amazilia Láctea***.

**NASA** has shown in its Clean Air studies that it helps eliminate chemicals such as **formaldehyde**, as well as **xylene and toluene**.
