If you have to go fishing at long distances (500+ miles), and even to carry a boat on the trailer (1000+ lbs), it is likely that field. For this kind of trips is a better choice crossover of the middle class ( from the Nissan X-trail and heavier), or even more serious car. All the same, the boat must not only tow to home, but also pull on the water in often unprepared. And most importantly, we raise the boat out of the water before the way back home. This requires a lot bigger and the motor more powerful...
But if the sphere of your interests fishing near a house (cottage), with a stop in such places, where passages are narrow, and the ruts deep a little prepared Niva ( lift, hoist) + shovel and hi-Jack in the trunk will provide you with almost limitless possibilities for access to impassable for the rest of the competition-anglers place.
Despite a very modest trunk when going on a fishing trip together and folded the back seat in the Field, you can get everything you need to organize a marching camp. Even an inflatable boat with a small motor to push the problems will not be. In a pinch you can sleep in the car. But, of course, without super-comfort.
Another plus - parts availability and maintainability. Some things can be repaired directly on the river. This is not imported equipment with computers and other twists where if something blinks, the road only in service...

A few words about the lightweight class SUV, which , unfortunately, is dying out like mammoths((. At the time I had a Suzuki. Still the same, old, square. Rigidly connected to the all-wheel drive, frame and power down. And I often went fishing with his friend George ( who, incidentally, was just a field) in the impassable wilds of the tributaries of the Oka. We drove there, where a heavy SUV-type Pajero , Patrol and square Prado sat tightly. Still weight often decides in favor of more lightweight cars. I'm really stuck, too, once. Jura on the Field I pulled. But Niva didn't stuck never in all our trips ;-).
I have still in the village is an old NIVA... For travel in the roadless adventures in the Kaluga region. So ride - I'm on the Niva, and the brother next on the quadric))). Well, if the weather is bad, then he gets into the old Niva, and we're going to the most hidden places, on a quiet forest ponds or the pool Pakhra or Desna river. У нас в Казахстане на заводе Азия Авто собирают Лада 4x4 , так на самом деле она зовется. Активно продаем их в Китай, даже там этот легендарный авто нашел своих покупателей. Жаль что у модернизированных моделей бампера пластиковые, не на долго ей они.
