Hilarious that they thought you "worked for" Steemit.   That would be like someone working for bitcoin.  I check in once in a while there, but I don't see any way to take the money out (if you consider points as money).   

When I started here, I was skeptical.  my first post gave me over $200 dollars worth, I waited the 7 days and changed it to Steem, then pulled it out to Poloniex.   It was the first last and only withdrawal I made from Steemit.  Having the money in hand (so to speak) killed my skepticism flat!

Since then I have invested thousands here.  Last month I made enough to pay my rent and all my bills in mostly interest and voting.   Since the hard fork, my SP income has gone down from 100 per day to 6.   I am not sure what the incentive might be from here on out.   I think they said that the price will go up as a result - could be.
