The Oklahoma City Thunder has finally found a team to take Carmelo Anthony. The Thunder, Atlanta Hawks and the Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to a three-team deal. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the said deal will be Carmelo Anthony, Justin Anderson and protected 2022 first-round pick to the Atlanta Hawks, Dennis Schroder and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot to the Oklahoma City Thunder and Mike Muscala to the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Atlanta Hawks will buyout Carmelo Anthony’s contract according to reports which will make him an unrestricted free agent after he clears waivers. Many teams want the service of the 10-time all-star veteran and the Houston Rockets are the frontrunners to land Melo. The Lakers are also a top destination for Carmelo because he also wants to play alongside his close friend LeBron James. That will also give him the best chance to have at least one championship ring before his career is over. But he will also be a great fit with the Houston Rockets especially with the fact that their starting forward Trevor Ariza is not on their roster anymore and Anthony would love to take Ariza’s position and be the starter he wants playing alongside with the MVP and another close friend Chris Paul. There is also a possibility that he will join the Golden State Warriors but let’s not hope he do so. Melo averaged 16.2 points per game, 5.8 rebounds and 1.3 assist during his 1 year in Oklahoma City. That was his worst year since he entered the league but he can still be productive if given the right role and the right system.

On the other hand, Oklahoma City did a great job this offseason getting players they needed and getting rid of Carmelo Anthony. The addition of Dennis Schroder is a huge one. He will be the backup point guard for Westbrook but Schroder’s talent is too much to be a backup point guard. Maybe the Thunder can play with two-guard or small ball with Jerami Grant and Paul George as forwards. This Oklahoma City team has improved a lot this offseason and will be a nightmare for other teams in the Western Conference. The addition of Noel and Schroeder can help the team a lot in offense by Schroder and on defense by Noel.  Schroder is only 24 years old and was drafted 17th overall in the 2013 NBA draft by the Hawks. He played all his five years career with the Hawks. According to ESPN, the first round draft pick that was sent to the Hawks is lottery protected (1-14) for the year 2022 and becomes two second round picks if it doesn’t convey.
