Calgary has peculiarly made it known that they are one of the best teams in the league, but they always fall short of a Stanley Cup. This evening, two division rivals will be taking the ice, the Flames objective, of course, is to win and remain in the third place position with a two point edge over the Kings. Meanwhile, the Kings are looking to overthrow the Flames and take the third position in the immensely ambitious Pacific division. But, according to the bookmakers, they see the Flames grabbing the two point margin over the Kings as they are -170 favorites. As usual, this game has a O/U of 5.5 which is typical for an 'average' scoring NHL match-up.

Since the Flames inaugural match-up on January 4th, they rode a 7 game winning streak until it was snapped on Saturday evening by the Winnipeg Jets in a very close affair, only coming up short in the shootout. Subsequently, they lost to the Sabres in a game that once again, couldn't be decided within regulation, eventually being defeated by an Eichel OT goal. Nevertheless, the Flames clearly have the momentum on their side going into the match-up this evening, being the favorites and in the two meetings that these teams have played in this season, the Flames came out on top both times, 4-3.

Los Angeles are the underdogs tonight, and rightfully so as they have been the worst team (by record) in January after having a secure second place position to dropping to the fourth, fighting for the third place playoff contending position. The LA native, Quick, has been abominable in his last 5 match-ups, only winning one night, while still giving up his minimum of 2 goals. But, Anze Kopitar is looking to increase his ever-growing point streak to 5 tonight, and both Brown and Doughty will look to increase their own to 3. If their sticks get hot, don't count the Kings out.
