The Penn State Nittany Lions and the Marquette Golden Eagles face off tonight in a quarterfinal game in the 2018 NIT Tournament. The game tips off at 6pm Central Standard Time and can be seen on National Television on ESPN. It will take place at the Al McGuire Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Marquette’s home court. The Golden Eagles are favored by 2.5 points and the over/under is 150.5 points.

Penn State is coming off of an impressive 73-63 win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday. Tony Carr once again led the team with 24 points and the guard keeps playing dynamite basketball to extend the Nittany Lions season. It will take a team effort tonight to win on the road against a very good Marquette team. Senior guard Shep Garner will need to take advantage of all open looks from the 3 point line and play aggressively. I expect Garner to let it rip from downtown.

Marquette is coming off of a high scoring shootout against Oregon on Sunday when they won 101-92. Andrew Rowsey continued his hot play by hitting 6-10 from the 3 point line and ended up with 26 points. As a team they hit 12-26 from deep and were deadly from the free throw line making 21-24 from the charity stripe. The Golden Eagles leading scorer on the year has been sophomore guard Markus Howard with 20.9 points per game. If Howard and Rousey are on their A game tonight, what out Penn State!

Tonight’s game is going to be a fast paced affair. Both teams rely heavily on production from the guard positions and the ball will be flying from beyond the arc. The first team to 80 points will get the win and advance to the 2018 NIT Final 4 in New York.
