The Philadelphia Phillies and the Chicago Cubs get a crucial weekend series going tonight as both teams try and continue their MLB playoff hopes. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05pm Central Standard Time and the game can be seen on National Television on the Direct TV MLB Extra Innings Package. It will take place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Phillies are small favorites at -112 and the over/under is 8.5 runs.

The Cubs enter tonight’s game feeling great after beating the Atlanta Braves 5-4 on Thursday. They have been one of the hottest teams in baseball over the last month and have won 8 of their last 10 games. The Cubs have a 4.5 game lead over the St. Louis Cardinals and a 5 game lead over the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central.

Tonight the Cubs will send lefty Jose Quintana to the mound. It has been an up and down year for him as he is 11-9 with an ERA of 4.33. He is fighting to prove his worth though to make the postseason rotation, assuming the Cubs make it.

The Phillies will counter tonight with Nick Pivetta. He has really struggled of late though and is only 7-10 on the year. Pivetta’s ERA has ballooned to 4.76 and he will need some good run support tonight to earn the win.

The Phillies find themselves 3 games back of the first place Atlanta Braves. They have only gone 3-7 in their last 10 games and are running out of time to go on a run.
