I honestly would rather use steem over bitcoin cash.. I know many people who if it wasn't because of steem they wouldn't even know what cryptocurrencies are..

I was intruiged by Yours after seeing it on @corbettreport ...

I took a deeper look and figured it is nothing like steemit. The site requires bagholders generously giving away BCH in microtransaction, so someone has to pay for the rewards... (currently almost all profitable posts (~$10+) just have a donation by the founder himself)

the community there seems very undeveloped, too, content quality is lacking a lot! ... but for a good content creator, there may be an early adopter opportunity in this.

I decided NOT to sign up and try it further.

P.S.: I found the fact that they have a "posting fee" for comments and content intruiging... there are big spam disincentives that steem *might* be lacking...

Thanks for the tip - I hadn't heard of this site, i'll add it to the list to examine.. However, if it is indeed based on micropayments and donation of personal funds, it is unlikely to have the same attraction as Steem for many people.

This is the frist time I hear of them, but honestly I do think if you have to pay a bit of your funds to upvotes, upvotes becomes more 'rare' and you then lure out that people will only upvote their own or 'friends' posts...  

I keep it with Steemit, really enjoying it here..so for me no reason to look somewhere else.. :)

Had a quick look, the interface is not very clean and it seems you have to fork out $0.25 for every upvote as a minimum. I'm doubting that this kind of system can easily pull new users into it.

Yours has a high "anti-spam" wall, basically money/crypto. You need to pay to post as well. Additionally, you can even charge users to comment on your content.

Their [help page](https://www.yours.org/faq) is not really that helpful but more like a fast intro, yet it gives a quick insight in the operation of the platform.

First point:

You don't have to charge anything if you don't want to; just put the entire content before the pay wall and other users will tip you if they like your work. Yours Inc. takes 5% of purchases.

To me it seems more like a Medium on (paywall) steroids.

Charging for almost everything is an interesting model to prevent spam though.

At first glance micro charges for material in and out seems to be a good way to fight off the spam. But I'm sure the spammers will find a way to make it work for them. Perhaps with a free service comes spam. I like the reputation idea on here but it does appear (please correct me if I'm wrong) that you can purchase reputation. If this is true then that needs to be fixed IMO.

I tried it, but there was no reaction and I have more than enough to do just posting here and on Diaspora. I think that the hard part is that people should use actual money they provide themselves. The internet has gotten us used to having all things for free. But it is an interesting project and maybe I should try to post some more on yours.com

It's essentially a blog version of Bitvoat. Bitvoat was meant to be reddit but with tips and it collapsed (the only people tipping were those giving a few doge here and there).

People don't like paying for content from their own pockets. They will vote on steemit to allocate coins being generated in the next 24 hours, but they won't give from their own stash (especially if they own a deflationary coin that is meant to go up 100-fold over time).

Following along in case I  learn something. Not that I have time for another platform right now. Still not a bad thing to keep in mind for the future.
