He was a brilliant child, even went to a school of gifted children but never graduated, he left high school a year before it. After this Basquiat lived in the new york city streets for two years, surviving by selling drawings and shirts decorated y himself. During this time he also took the name of SAMO as he made street art with a heavy socio-political critique. </p> <p> <img src="http://iamgraffiti.es/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/brooklyn-street-art-al-diaz-samo-jaime-rojo-08-14-web.jpg" width="740" height="651"/></p> <p>The painting you saw that it was sold at so expensive prices was painted when he was 22, when he was leaving the streets. Critics bashed on him because of his homelessness, Basquiat never shuted up about the abuse he recieved from his father or his mothers mental illness. With his short years as an artist he scaled up by his own strength and determination, made collabs with Andy Warhol to later dethrone Warhol as THE pop artist.
