[쿡스팀] 태어나 처음으로 먹어본 갯가재

안녕하세요 @supergiant입니다. 얼마 전 퇴근길에 유튜브를 보다가 아래 동영상을 보게 되었는데요.

이 전까지 갯가재라는 생물이 있는지도 몰랐는데 우리나라 해안에서도 서식하고 있고 드물지만 수산물 시장에서도 판매하고 있다고 하네요.

후기를 보면 대부분 생긴건 징그럽지만 맛은 있다라는 얘기가 많아서 어떤 맛일까 궁금해 하고 있었는데요 근처 시장에서 판매를 하고 있어서 삶아서 먹어봤습니다.

### 비주얼은 쇼킹
아래 사진을 처음 본 사람은 어떤 느낌이 드시나요? 분명 새우나 게, 가재의 비주얼과는 차이가 있는 모습을 하고 있습니다. 꼭 무슨 벌레같이 생겼죠 T

손바닥에 올려놓고 찍어봤는데요 사이즈가 제법 컸어요. 이때에는 징그럽다는 생각이 많았는데 맛을 보고 난 후에 사진을 다시 보니 맛있겠다는 생각이 듭니다.

갯가재의 발 모양에 따라 찌르거나 움켜잡는 스피어 형, 먹이를 타격해서 사냥하는 권투글로브 모양의 스매셔 형으로 나뉜다고 하는데요. 우리나라 연안에 잡히는 갯가재는 스피어 형이라고 합니다. 마치 사마귀의 앞발 같아요.

### 요리법

사진도 찍었으니 이제 삶아 봅니다. 이때까지만 해도 오묘한 느낌이 들었어요.

잡냄새 제거를 위해 된장 스푼과 맛술을 살짝 넣어주고 뚜껑을 덮고 15분간 끓였습니다.

다 익으면 약간 붉은 기가 돕니다. 끓여진 국물을 망설이며 숟가락으로 떠서 맛을 봤는데.. 오오 잡냄새 하나 없이 시원하고 단 맛이 납니다. 실제로 찌게 끓일 때 넣어 먹으면 시원한 국물맛을 내준다고 하네요.

### 손질 방법
뜨거우니 삶은 갯가재를 채에 담아 찬물을 뿌려주고 가위를 준비합니다.

먼저 머리를 싹뚝 잘라 준 다음에

꼬리도 싹뚝 잘라줍니다

그리고 양쪽 옆구리도 가위로 잘라줍니다.

자르고 나니 양이 팍 줄어들었습니다. 이제 등쪽과 배쪽 껍데기를 잡고 벗겨내면

아래와 같이 쏙 하고 벗겨집니다. 신선하면 껍데기와 살이 잘 분리 되구요 이미 죽었거나 하면 껍데기에 살이 같이 떨어져 나오는것 같더라구요.

### 맛
위키에는 이렇게 맛을 설명하고 있는데요
>새우와 게의 중간같은 맛을 내는 무척 맛좋은 해산물이고, 조리법도 게와 새우, 가재와 크게 다르지 않다. 우리나라에서 갯가재는 주로 해물탕 같은 데 넣어 끓이거나 게처럼 쪄먹는 경우가 많고, 된장국에 다른 해물과 함께 넣어먹으면 맛이 좋다.

정확한 설명인거 같아요. 퍽퍽한 새우보다는 더 담백하고 부드럽고 게처럼 단맛도 나는게 참 신기했습니다. 수컷은 살이 많아 게를 먹는 느낌이 많이 들었고 암컷은 요즘엔 알이 있는데 그 식감이 단단하고 맛은 너무 고소한게 정말 별미였습니다.

운이 좋았는지 70%는 암컷 갯가재여서 알을 실컷 먹었습니다. 아래가 암컷 갯가재 알 모습이예요

### 결론
생긴것은 저래도 맛은 좋습니다. 안드셔본 분은 경험상 꼭 드셔보시길 추천합니다. 특히 알이 아주 끝내줍니다.

맛보기로 만원어치를 구입해서 먹어봤는데요. 사진처럼 손질하고 나면 양이 얼마 안되니 인당 1kg으로 계산해서 구입하시면 실컷 드실 수 있을겁니다. 재구매 의사율 1000% 예요 .
