Yesterday I had my first encounter with a movie produced by HBO, which by chance was also produced by A24, which is my favorite producer right now. I saw Native Son without expecting anything, thinking that it would be an HBO movie coming of ages very similar to the movies made by A24 (what a coincidence, huh), and I was surprised to find a very interesting movie that is different from what people are used to seeing. A film that I have to talk about here, but in a somewhat different way than what I should do.

Native Son tells the story of Bigger, a boy who becomes the driver of a wealthy family. The film always maintains that vibe to Get Out, since having a colored protagonist surrounded by white people, it is easy to create awkward situations where you think people are racist, but this also happens through the protagonist's personality.

The protagonist, Bigger, has green hair, he paints his nails, he likes the punk scene and he listens to classical music, so he shows us as a person of color who is not within the stereotype that is always brought to us. This makes the movie have a little criticism that I loved.

As a movie it is good and entertaining, it is understood because it is a movie for television and not a movie for theaters, but that does not make it a bad movie, but it does give you some thought. In several scenes of the film you can see the discomfort that the protagonist has when they make typical comments like "you must like rap", which he repels in a certain way. Since the film is not focused on criticizing micro racism, this is not very noticeable, but when it is done, it is done in a tangent way, where it is completely clear that they want to do it, and this time, it works out well for them.
