This is a million dollar idea that could be applied to any system in the world!
Reality TV shows like, The Voice, may be inspiring to the next Justin Beiber, but they aren't productive for non-musical students. Rather than using this popular idea for models or singers, we should be rewarding great educators who publish to social media in their subjects of expertise.
Politicians and departments of education always ask for billions to improve the system, but I think we could improve things with just a few million dollars per year by rewarding a million dollars per subject.
Imagine if the state of Alabama or a small country gives out $1 million to the best Math, Art, History, or Science teacher each year. The winner of the prize would be happy, but hundreds or thousands would try to win, making them better teachers and their lectures would be on Youtube.
I've been a teacher almost two decades and to be honest, most of us are lazy. I guarantee that if we thought we had a chance at winning a million dollars, we'd all up our game. Most of us don't think we are the best teacher in the whole country, but county, district, city, or state? "Yeah, I can win!"
There is already a lot of great content on Youtube in English, but doing this would get a lot of other languages posted too. We don't need to ask governments to make this work either. This could be done privately and or through crowdfunding. All that needs to happen is to spread this idea in many languages. Please help make this idea go viral!
