It’s so easy to have an opinion about everything when things like this happen and just like assholes everyone has one. But do opinions actually lead to real world decision making, will your blog vanish tomorrow? Probably not, will you care it’s running on different infrastructure? Probably not, will you be pissed if everything you learned about the chain you were on previously has changed, erm, probably actually ;) <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Ro9MvN5egdA" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> <br/> Some things that popped into my head last night and this morning thou. .. ### are they really doing the AMA on dlive? (the dlive story) For those that don’t know the dlive story, dlive was a live streaming platform that first functioned on the steem blockchain before they came out with a post to say that it was all an experiment (thanks for the steem) and then changed to lino, a fast chain but with no real token value — streamers were sold on an illusion that it would be something, then dlive sold out to tron and now it runs on the tron network, at least, that’s what I assume — I don’t know how that actually plays out in real life. ### tron/steem on the whole is seen as shit coins by main, why? People love cool sounding words don’t they? Blockchains have fans and supporters and those fans and supporters have a really hard line of how much they love and support them — it’s like football or anything with passion you get this hardcore group that just ‘breathe’ that stuff But let’s be honest, ‘shitcoin’ is a great word. What makes a shit coin to you? What because of the market cap? Because you just don’t like it or the millions of posts you see on twitter? What makes tron a shitcoin? Because of it’s technology, it’s hype? — I’m sure we have a million solid, real world, applicable reasons why we don’t like something over grandaddy stable and secure and old in his ways bitcoin. Steemians are a rare breed in the crypto world compared to all the other chains, that I know for absolutely certain. Price is not everything and you only have to look at the posts coming out of the chain in the last twenty four hours to see that people LOVE this space/place where they are — change is hard when it feels like it’s pushed on you. ### tron is at 12th place compared to steem at 73rd The perceptions game, the majority of the whales here will be flexing hard to make sure their precious warchest of steem has a similar value if it all goes tits up and they have to board the HMS TronSteem — I’m sure a bunch think this is GOOD awareness for the steem blockchain regardless and at this point maybe being equally as disenfranchised with two chains together is a good look (think if blockchain needs made a hip hop music video — I’m thinking awkward microsoft xp launch vibes here) ### seems not only jobs are lost to the far east Can blockchain communities be bought and sold? I mean after all if you are a country that can do something cheaper, faster and the same quality don’t you deserve to win? If you have the young face of mr sun at the forefront and then an aligned Taskforce of hackers that raid other exchanges, whirlpool those funds back into tron could that not set you up as the new modern day ‘catch me if you can’ digital printing machine of the future? Are you ready to see Justins face on your morning bagels? Of course I’m only joking but can see how things with social media can be remixed ad infinitum to be whatever the imagination can vision ;) ### what is it about clean cut men boys that freak us out so much? I’m mean, I understand that, too squeaky clean, too much reading Steve jobs manuals on how to not have an variety in your wardrobe, it’s a look and a style choice for sure. identity, status, educational background, all sources of anger venting in this modern day artificial human playground — we judge first on the look, the nuance, less so the persons roadmap. We want them to tickle our little sensitive buttholes and tell us that our chain will be ok. ### it’s obviously the angle is to buy attention ($4.5 buffet play) Who buys dinner with someone for that amount of money? Like, do you not get enraged with the notion of buying the time of another human just to show you can, just imagine how much that could have bought face masks Justin instead of that awkward twitter video you do with a store room of a maxed out credit cards worth. No disrespect meant here, props for using the opportunity to prove you have some kind of humanity but you send awfully indifferent signals to me — are you going to use the same rules in business? ### token swapping from steem to tron (nasty taste in mouth) All girls and boys on planet have been through it at some point in our lives (or probably will) — the surprising moment when our better half is caught off guard by coming in your partners mouth or worse. It’s a shock but you love them anyway, you apologise profusely and discuss it at great length afterwards during the drive through order (wait just me?) In a similar vein the whole notion that you can just token swap one set of value out into another seems EXACTLY what someone like ned and steemit et all would do. I mean, they pre-mined a bunch right? What better way to get more UMFF out of your coffers and at least this way you can dissolve the steemit team without the guilt if you just make it look like the acquire was for everyones benefit? Truth be told thou, we don’t know. So let’s just see any? Same as the climate, we will either have roads as rivers or rivers as dessert, let’s just wait eh? Keep waiting, just a little long, bit more, just another year, maybe a decade, let’s see, let’s hold one. … yada yada. .. ### obvious that some had insider knowledge about tron discussion Incredible blockchain choice for some of our steem dapps to go down the tron route, they might not like it but fuck it, let’s get in bed with the outsider even thou we love our chain so much just in case. This speaks volumes to me, winning at any cost, as long as we are ahead and as long as we tickle the community enough, lay down good enough smoke screen we can vanish into the night across the map like a good old game of CS:GO Remember that four week power down, hmm, I do. Makes you wonder who is Freddy Kruger and who is the dancing puppet. ### but he has smarts too, bit torrent acquired was smart Look, I know I’ve painted a pretty bizarre and twisted picture but hey, I’m on one coffee and light weight breakfast so allow the venting. The good news is it’s not all bad. No really. I mean, let’s look at tech for a minute — all the parts are there, the notion of the following actually excites me. .. JUSTIN/TRON - young, money, youth vision, disruptive STEEM - smart, sassy, fights a good fight bare knuckle BITTORRENT - p2p, btt, slow, medium and fast lane future IPFS? DLIVE — ok, so not everything is great. (be more interested what [Bram Cohen](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bram_Cohen) does next with the money btw, coders tend to sell old stuff and then have fresh, better ideas anyway — even thou he’s got three kids, coders never stop coding!) ### community it appears has a price to be bought You’ll certainly see who here for the money, who’s gonna start licking right up the tron street crack and eat up those little TX records like a cracked out pacman looking to get the next ledger hit. You’ll see the true colours of the notion of ‘community’ in the next few days, weeks and months — like steem hasn’t been through enough already. It was not enough to be beaten down to a pulp my the anti-social media leeches that we have to suddenly start wearing trendy cloths with tron logos. It’s all a bit of a fuck show atm. I like the idea of steem classic tbh, could it make a name for itself, would the existing witnesses want to take that on and have goveranance or are they all gonna just be bought off and start going to WITNESScon instead? Only time and self respect will tell, will they hold true the values that they decided on four years ago, will immutable mean immutable or will it be a different shade of immunity — or will we have the music die and the last chair be pulled away as lots of Justin looking guys slow clap as the red candles start to flicker. ### we need a standard for exporting content across blockchains I’d love to see the steem.DAO be used now (quickly) to rapidly prototype a bunch of tools — the steem classic idea, a flat file exporter tool for our media (json or something) — in fact, I think steem could be the standard to enact that, imagine if we were the blockchain that built data tools to rapidly move our blogs around between chains? — that way we could become the data marketplace and it doesn’t matter who flex’s their bank account then to own the awareness and the legacy of a user name account. ### digital web spaces have a clock running The normal timing of a startup is often I’ve found anywhere between six months and two years before it get’s often acquired, shuttered and then made to fade away into obscurity, often times some of the code or algorithms are bolted hamfisted into the new product and then the hope is that the existing community comes across — most of the time, they do but also a lot leave because it ‘does not feel the same’ That’s a totally different thing with decentralised products that get acquired and in fact I think that’s healthy, it spawns what might have been a slow moving product into something fresh and new — you either adapt or die in this ledger space. Anyway, just some random pre coffee thoughts… I’ll still be posting on the decentralised web, where that might be! __humble xxx Ps. From what I can gather thus far community sentiment on the Steemit acquisition has ranged from adulation to deep suspicion and fear for the future of the Steem blockchain. I think it serve the community well if someone with the necessary skills could provide an object and succinct analysis of Tron and its leadership. Perhaps this would help individuals to decide whether to endorse this business decision or to alternative platforms.
