The <b>sup</b> function is a superscript! You might be able to do the same thing with a <b>sub</b> markup.

<b>Fun with superscripts:</b>
Avogadro's number: 6.022140857 × 10<sup>23</sup> !

<b>Here's fun with subscripts and italics:</b>
W<sub>F</sub> = <em>-mg(h<sub>B</sub> - h<sub>A</sub>) - W<sub>S</sub></em>
