Indonesia has cultural diversity. Each province in Indonesia has its own customs and cultures. Each region also has the myths, tales and legends passed down from their ancestors. There are many stories that can be told to children before bed. I often tell fairy tales before going to bed to my children.

Sometimes I tell stories about fairy tales, sometimes I tell stories about mythical legends, sometimes I tell stories about myths too. I combine each story with my own sentence and language. I do not change the moral message contained in the story, I just change some names and places that I adjust to the current situation.

This time I will tell the tale of a child who has a physical abnormality. Here's the story:

In a village, there was a husband and wife. The couple have long been married and have not had children. The couple has taken medical treatment everywhere to check their condition. But doctors say both of them are fine. The couple did not stop praying to God.

A few years later, the couple was blessed with a child. Their efforts and patience finally succeeded. But how surprised they are when seeing the physical condition of his son. The size of the baby's body was unusual and very small. Therefore, his parents gave this child the name "Haloh" which means small or subtle ("Haloh" is a word in Aceh, one of the provinces in Indonesia).

"Maybe, when he was 2 years old, this child's body will develop," the father's mind.

Two years later, Haloh's physical condition also did not grow as children in his age. Although Haloh's body is very small, but his appetite is large. He finished his food without the slightest leftovers. Sometimes he asked for more food to their parents.

Haloh's parents were so overwhelmed by the appetite of his son. It has been their intention to throw Haloh to the edge of the forest. They have not been able to accept the physical abnormalities experienced by Haloh.

When the age of 5 years, the size of his body also did not change. However, his appetite increased. Haloh not grow normally. In the neighborhood, he often bullied by peers. Haloh's friends often mock Haloh as "midget".

One day, a big boy hit Haloh. Haloh hold back their punches with resignation. Not long afterwards, either because he could not bear the punch, Haloh beat back the big boy until he was battered. All friends Haloh were scared and did not dare to mock Haloh.

Haloh's parents also received unpleasant treatment from their neighbors due to the physical abnormalities of Haloh.

"I can not hear the taunts of our neighbors," said Haloh's mother to Haloh's father.

"Me too. Tomorrow, I'll take him to the forest. I'll leave him there, "said Haloh's father.

The next day, Haloh and his father went to the forest. They cut down some wood. When Haloh was engrossed in small logs, Haloh's father cut down a large tree and was directed at Haloh's body.

“Kraaaakk!” 

The big tree fell on Haloh's body. Haloh's father examined his son's body for a moment. And when he was sure Haloh did not move, he went home and told his wife everything.

Two days later, there was a shout from outside the house.

"Dad! Mom! Haloh go home!"

Haloh came home with a large piece of wood. How strong the child so that the villagers were surprised to see it.

"Mom! Haloh hungry!"Said Haloh innocently.

His mother brought a lot of food to Haloh. When Haloh ate his food, Haloh's parents cried. They feel guilty for malicious intent on Haloh.

Finally, Haloh's parents have been able to accept Haloh with his physical condition. In fact, Haloh helped his father's work. Haloh's power was also widely used by the villagers.[]
