Rose Gelato Shop Near St. Stephen's Basilica, Budapest

The Rose Gelato Shop is located in District V near St. Stephen's Basilica in Budapest.

We were advised by a Hungarian friend that it was an absolute Must Do during our trip there.

As you can see from the pictures, their Gelato is edible art, crafted right in front of you into the beautiful shapes that give the shop it's distinctively descriptive name.

The shop offers what most Americans would consider "unusual" flavors as well.

On the recommendation from the gelato artist who served us, my own treat consisted of a blend of two flavors I never would have considered, Olive Oil & Gorgonzola with a third, small dab of Strawberry for contrast.

It was an unexpectedly wonderful, creamy blend of flavors that didn't overpower you with either the Gorgonzola or too much sweetness.

This is why I like restaurants that make the decisions for their customers, especially when the food is something unique or fairly uncommon. I love sushi, for example, but I hate ordering it. There's just too many choices and I don't have it often enough to know what they are. Just bring me something good!

Those gelatos are works of art.

Hungary had some unusual (from a US perspective) flavor combinations.

Ketchup flavored Cheetos for example.

We had a lunch one day at a Pekseg (bakery) in the university district, freshly baked breads, a little wider than a baguette, sliced down the middle and toppings added like cheese, bacon, fresh sour cream (and ketchup).
