UNIONISMS, IT PLACE VALUE TO THE INSTITUTION, AND THE STUDENTS

A revolution and an egalitarian greetings to my amiable steemian Figures & bedrock of militancy and queen of valor.

The unique greatness, records and golden achievement sets by any school can't be disconnected from the roles and duties played by Students Union movement in the past and till present. The glory lies in the history of time.

*ROLES & DUTIES*

The students union was created on purpose and its purpose has been jealously guided in the past till present. In a democratic country such as Nigeria, it is always a burden on the Student Union to be at the forefront of promoting and protecting the interest of its members in their common struggle to achieve the required best in learning. Unionism as far as students movement is concerned was borne as a result of oppression from government via school authorities or management. They are unrelenting in their bid and tactics to clamp down on the students movement by silencing them anytime their maladministration and negligence is about to be exposed. The role and duties of every sane & responsive union is to always protect & guide the students interest. Different approach can be used to ensure and facilitate that. 

1. By negotiating and consulting with the management in behalf of the students. 

2. By Consolidation - combining all necessary force to achieve the stated demands. 

3. By confrontation which is also  regarded as mass action (Protest)  

These are the core values upon which our union is solidly and solely build on. The ideology of the union is what guides their affairs in dealing with issues at hand. The ideology is equally based on the principle of; 

1. *Egalitarianism* - which connotes equality for all. in student campus, nobody is superior, we are all equal. More reason why there's zero tolerance for cultism. You can only be superior in argument and not physical combat. That's idea here in ife. 

2. *Solidarity* - togetherness and the spirit of comradeship in the course of heated struggle. The union is the students and the students is the union. If anything happens to a student, the union is affected and it's considered as 'an injury to one is an injury to all'. We fight collectively to achieve our desired objectives. Where one or two students gathered, the union is there

3. *Confraternity & Democracy* - the majority decides and that's been principle upon which the union strictly adhere to. The Congress of students is the highest decision making organ of the union and every resolution of the congress is binding on all students.

*i perceived injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere*

Virtually every public institution in Nigeria is used to constant shut down of the university system. The reason isn't far fetched 

If all necessary needs that can guarantee your success in school, isn't certain, what would you do?? 

Keep quiet or shout?? 

If you keep quiet - your silence is criminal and you are even a super oppressor  _'for it is written in the aluta and solidarity book that whosoever that keep quiet in the face of injustice & oppression has joined the side of the oppressors'_

If you shout, your voice will be heard and necessary steps will be taking as a quickly as possible.
