It's Okay to Be a "Scrunchy" Mom.

<p>Apparently I'm a "scrunchy mom."</p>
<p>(I know, I was really confused, too).</p>
<p>A <strong>"crunchy"</strong> mom is a someone who tries to be 100% natural: unmedicated home birth, no vaccinations, homeschool, cloth diapers, co-sleeping, breastfeeding, organic food, etc, etc.&nbsp;</p>
<p>A<strong> "silky"</strong> mom is a someone who is the opposite of a crunchy mom: medicated hospital birth, pro-vaccinations, public school, disposable diapers, baby in their own room, formula fed, non-organic food, etc.&nbsp;</p>
<p>If you find yourself somewhere in the middle of these two definitions, then you are a <strong>"scrunchy"</strong> mom.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I was laughing when I found these terms because it's really so silly. It's extremely difficult to be either a crunchy or a silky mom, so I think that the majority of mamas would fall into the scunchy category.</p>
<p>But, honestly, I think that labels are dumb. You can't put mamas in boxes! Each mama is different, and her kids are different, making her situation completely unique and different than any other mama on the planet!&nbsp;</p>
<p>Moms need to do exactly what they feel is the right thing for their babies. There are going to be people that disagree with you no matter what you choose, and you can't parent your kids and be worrying about what other people think at the same time. Your only job is to do what's right for your babies, not to please other people.&nbsp;</p>

SCRUNCHY???

Okay, now I'm laughing too.

I'm definitely scrunchy. I don't do cloth diapers. I do have my babies at home, no meds. I don't do all organic, but I certainly do a lot of our cooking. I don't have our babies in their own room, but I don't like them sleeping in bed with me. And so it goes.

It's weird when we start inventing boxes for our behavior...
