Now it's called Chex Mix and is sold in stores everywhere.

While the store-bought stuff is pretty good, it does not hold a candle to that which my mother made every year around Thanksgiving.

She used several different kinds of Chex cereals and would put toasted pecans in as a substitute for the peanuts called for in the recipe.

She'd throw everything into the oven and let it bake for a while. After it cooled, she'd put it in Tupperware containers and it would have kept for weeks. I say "would have" because we never let it keep that long. It was always gone in just a few days.

Man, that stuff was good!

I don't know if this is the [recipe](https://www.thekitchn.com/chex-mix-recipe-23022715) mother used. If not, it's close.
