<h2>8.  Santana</h2>
<hr>
Santana is another American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1966. Led by Mexican-American guitarist Carlos Santana, the band achieved critical acclaim very early, thanks to their performance of 'Soul Sacrifice' at the Woodstock Music and Art fair held in Bethel, White Lake, New York City in 1969. This facilitated the release of their debut self-titled album in August, 1969. They have a distinctive Latin rock sound mixed with hard rock and blues rock elements. The band reportedly managed to sell approximately 90 million copies of their albums worldwide.

<h2>1. The Doors</h2>
<hr>
The Doors was, perhaps, the most influential American band of the 1960s. Formed in 1965 in Los Angeles, California, their career rose to prominence in a very short period of time. The controversial lyrics of the songs along with the similar statements given by frontman Jim Morrison to the press propelled them as the most sough-after musical act in late 1960s America.
<p>
Most fans and music critics claim that their music was way ahead of their time and that they were visionaries, beyond space and time. They managed to blend in a mysterious, introspective way poetry with the rebellious nature of rock music, resulting in one of history's greatest bands.
<p>
Their popularity persisted even after Jim Morrison's death and the break-up of the band between the surviving members in 1973. One of the most essential things about the band was that their songs were designed as cultural vehicles for freedom and discovery (whether it was self-discovery or other types of discoveries). In the end, after more than 50 years since their debut, they still remain one of the most renowned symbols of U.S. rock music scene and definitely regarded as classics amongst many rock fans worldwide.
