# <code> *Hello Italy...* </code>

If you are visiting Galle, Kanneliya is a must see! We went on a trek to Kanneliya with our family.  Kanneliya is located 38km away from Galle Town. It is just one hour drive. Before this I hadn't experienced walking in a tropical rainforest. It was so fun to go on a trek with family.

When we got to the destination, As usual there was a ticket counter. From the ticket counter we were given a wild life tracker to guide us through the rain forest. People are allowed to enter the rainforest in batches with a guide. Nobody is allowed to use different paths and to go alone without a guide.

Surprisingly the walk wasn’t too hard. Inside the forest reserve there is flat terrain which is made to make it easy for everyone. It’s actually a great place to visit with family and children. We visited on a sunny day, but inside the forest reserve it wasn’t too hot. There was enough shade because of the thick canopy above. There were a bewildering variety of tropical trees, plants and flowers.

The guide was quite friendly, she taught all the interesting facts and showed everything around us. It was great to watch the widespread bird life, Monkeys and a variety of  Chameleons.

Kanneliya rainforest is recognized as one of the floristically richest regions in South Asia, and the second largest primary rain forest reserve in Sri Lanka. Two main rivers in the island cross through kanneliya, Gin Ganga and the Nilwala Ganga. The waterfalls inside the forest amazed us. The water was crystal clear. It was a great spot to rest a bit while enjoying the beautiful nature.

This adventure trek with family to Kanneliya was awesome. It was an amazing experience and I would visit Kanneliya once again if I get a chance.
