I couldn't help fidgeting during the hour sermon. The air conditioner hummed keeping the parishioners cool. I closed the hymnal as the final notes faded on the piano.

We were free to leave. My sons filed a little quicker to the door. Finally, we were on our way to see the Siberian Husky pup advertised in the paper for $200. My oldest son found her the week before. This week her price dropped $50. My ex husband said we could buy the pup if the owners would accept payments. I had just the $50 to put down on the pup and could offer payments.

The couple was waiting for us. The pup ran into the living room, a ball of energy...right into my heart. I had to have her. I remembered Girl, our Husky Shepard, that ran away when I was 12. My heart ached still from the loss of my Mom and Grandmother recently. All I asked for from my spouse was a husky for my birthday. We checked shelters, but no one had one. I'd given up.

Here she was before me. One blue eye, one brown eye...pie eyed. The last of the litter. No one else wanted her for her mismatched eyes. I reached down to pick the seven week old pup up and ran my fingers through her silky dog hair. Her markings resembled a tiny wolf. 

To my surprise, we knew the couple. The husband was from our town, right up the road.

Papers were signed for the payment arrangement and my sons carried my little Sasha to the car and to her forever home.
