During the 18th century there was this intellectual/philosophical movement that spread all over the world, called the ***Age of Enlightenment.*** 
The ideas that came to light through this movement undermined the authority of the monarchy and the church, clearing the way for the revolution of the 18th and 19th centuries.
Also called the Age of Reason as it included ideas centered on reason as the first source of our knowledge. 
Individual liberty and religious tolerance were other points of reference. 

Today we can find more and more writings that refer to that time, as unfortunately we have to note ,that some of these qualities conquered during the period are questioned again.

Thats why I mention this today and made the motion-art as illustration to the words:
